Air Force ROTC Detachment 605 Admissions Information
Requirements to Join
- U.S. citizenship
- At least 3-years remaining at NC A&T or one of our crosstown schools
- Must be physically fit and within height and weight standards
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater for all college courses completed
- Must be able to complete the program before your 30th birthday to be eligible for scholarship consideration
- Must pass the Air Force Officer Qualification Test (AFOQT) to compete for the Professional Officer Course Selection Process (PSP) by the end of your fall semester of your AS200 (Sophmore) year
- Must be able to qualify medically through the Department of Defense Medical Evaluation Board (DoDMERB) before attending Field Training (FT) or being considered for scholarship opportunities
Step 1: Create a WINGS Account
Step 2: Register For Classes
- All Freshman must register for AERO121 and AERO131 (you must register for both)
- Freshman (Spring Semester), Sophomores, and above must contact AFROTC Detachment 605 personnel before registering for courses (afrotc@ncat.edu)
NOTE: NC A&T is the host university, all classes will be conducted at NC A&T. Students not attending NC A&T will need to contact an academic counselor/advisor at their school of attendance to complete a CONSORTIUM FORM. Applicants will provide this form to the NC A&T registrar during the first week of NC A&T classes.
Step 3: Collect Required Documentation
- Original Birth Certificate (SCANS/PHOTOCOPIES not accepted)
- Original Social Security Card (SCANS/PHOTOCOPIES not accepted)
- Most recent College Transcripts (if applicable)
- Copy of SAT or ACT scoresheet (if taken)
- SAT or ACT are NOT required to join AFROTC in college
- MALES ONLY: Selective Service ID # (print verification letter) (https://www.sss.gov/verify/)
- PRIOR MILITARY STUDENTS ONLY: DD Form 214/DD Form 785
Step 4: Complete Required Forms & AFROTC Physical
- Complete AFROTC Detachment 605 New Student In-Processing Package
- Obtain an AFROTC Pre-Participatory Sports Physical (Form 28)
NOTE: The AFROTC Form 28, Pre-Participatory Sports Physical, must be completed by a medical provider (present your medical provider with the fillable/blank AFROTC Form 28 and the example during your exam).
Step 5: Provide ALL Required Documents, In-Processing Package, & AFROTC Form 28 to Detachment
- All required documents and forms will be collected during your first AFROTC class
NOTE: DO NOT email any documents/forms to AFROTC Detachment 605 personnel.
