Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)

The North Carolina A&T State University Police Department is proud to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

CALEA accreditation is a nationally recognized distinction that signifies a law enforcement agency’s commitment to professional excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. To achieve and maintain accredited status, the department must demonstrate compliance with hundreds of established standards that address critical areas such as:
  • Policy development and review
  • Use of force and operational procedures
  • Evidence management and property control
  • Training and professional development
  • Emergency preparedness and response
  • Accountability and administrative practices

Through a comprehensive review process and periodic on-site assessments, the department must continually prove compliance with these standards to maintain accreditation. This process ensures that our policies, procedures, and practices reflect nationally recognized best practices in law enforcement.

Accreditation is more than a credential, it is a public commitment to integrity, transparency, and service excellence for the Aggie community.
